clevencd I really enjoy these arrangements! These are excellent performances, with a great selection of compositions. The cello and marimba come together very beautifully. Favorite track: Massenet: Meditation.

about

This unique father-daughter duo began in the early years in the living room with the cello and piano, then eventually on stage - with a marimba in place of the piano. This album is a collection of the musical moments they shared together for countless family occasions.

Sachiya Isomura, cellist, was a member of the Minnesota Orchestra for 39 years after playing with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He has studied at the Toho Conservatory in Tokyo and the Juilliard School in New York where he received the Mrs. Crane Scholarship Award and won the concerto competition. He was invited to play by the World Cello Congress in Russia directed by Mstislav Rostropovich in 1997. He plays a cello made by Paolo Testore, Milan Italy in 1728.

Eri Isomura, marimbist, is a freelance performer and instructor based in Minneapolis-St. Paul. She is a co-founder of 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective and is a member of Champagne Confetti, Heartland Marimba Ensemble, and Wayzata Symphony Orchestra. She has performed at Aspen Music Festival, Bravo! Vail Festival, and with other groups. She is adjunct faculty at St. Olaf College, Shattuck St. Mary's, Yinghua Academy, and has a private studio of budding musicians.
